I bank with several banking institutions. I thought when I moved my loan from Navy Federal Credit Union it would be a good experience. It has not been. They charge you $8 to pay your loan over the phone. Unless you have an account with them, which you have to have a minimum balance on or you have to pay extra... They dont give you an online option. I attempted to set up direct pay from my other credit union but that was also a problem. Then they close at 4pm because for some reason that is logical.
They are the most greedy credit union I have encountered and I would rate Bank of America and Wells Fargo WAY higher. That's saying something because I have never liked banks.
Take your money and credit elsewhere. This credit union does not care about its members.

I liked them at first, I've had them for about 4-5 years now! Let me start out by saying, I've been in banking for 10 years before leaving to work for local city in lake county. I have a checking, savings and traditional IRA with them. I wanted a credit union aside from my main banking institute, where most of my larger bills come out of..mortgage, student loan, life insurance, etc. I was told to have at least $100 deposit monthly to avoid charges when I switched to a different checking. That was OK, then it changed a few years later to having a $500 monthly balance ( mind you, I have savings and IRA with more than enough). That I swallowed, got charged $10 for about a year, because that was not my main account! Now I have more than that sitting in checking alone, I got charged last month again?!? I was told, now you have to have a $500 dollar DEPOSIT monthly?!!!!? These people are a JOKE! HOW DO YOU TAKE MONEY FROM FOLKS WITHOUT MONEY, WHEN CLEARLY I HAVE MONEY SITTING IN TWO OTHER ACCOUNTS?!?! PLUS I THOUGHT THEY HAD ATWORK ACCOUNTS FOR CITY EMPLOYEES. Its OK, I will move my little money elsewhere, where loyal clients are appreciated. No love lost, this is one reason I got out of banking.

Let's start by saying that my wife and I have had an A+ experience since we started a banking relationship with Fairwinds Credit Union.
Mr Sebastian Sanchez has been
extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful in helping us select the best products for our banking needs.
Fairwinds Credit Union has terrific rates if you are in the market for a new car loan. Of course having excellent credit will insure you get the best rates.
I have found that it is easiest to reach out to the bankers via email. I realize that they are extremely busy this time of year. So a little patience goes a long way.
I am surprised by some of the negative reviews I have seen here.
In our modern, rush-rush world, we all need to slow down a bit and make an effort to acknowledge and respect our fellow human beings.
I wholeheartedly recommend Fairwinds Credit Union in Mt Dora.

I’ve been in the Credit union work force all my adult life. I just moved here and opened an account at FAIRWINDS CU. Less than impressed. Always a wait...customer service lacks, very different than what I’m use too. What happen to the credit union philosophy. People helping people.

All I can say is wow! This branch has gone above & beyond to truly impress me. I have been a Fairwinds member for nearly 15 years. My home branch has seen me grow up & grow my business, yet the we’re always unable to work with me to get me a loan or credit card. When I tell you this branch manager went ABOVE & BEYOND to hear my frustrations I work with me to accomplish my goals. Pat Nix has been the single most helpful Fairwinds Employee to assist me in 15 years. In the last four months, she was able to help me open a business credit card as well as finance my new vehicle purchase. I sent her an email on a Tuesday after 4:30pm and she returned my email with a phone call promptly at 5:30 PM. She informed me that she was very sick and out of the office for the week. However, she helped me make contact with her assistant who is able to get my business loan from application to completed within 8 hours the following day. Her assistant Mandie was phenomenal at communicating & worked very diligently to get my loan close immediately. I cannot stress enough how much Pat has done to help preserve my relationship with Fairwinds as opposed to going to another bank. I will forever speak highly on this branch.

I had a perfectly LOUSY EXPERIENCE today at the Mt. Dora Drive thru Teller. I had in hand a low value monthly check from my Renter that I cash tbe same way every month for the past several years at this Location. I was told they needed to call the Renter to verify the Check. The Renter was skeptical about the call and expressed that sentiment. My id is perfect FL Drivers license and they can see the same withdrawal make by check and cashed to me each of many many past months! This is a no brainer! After 20 minutes of shenanigans I pleaded that they look at their own records. A manager finally overroad the Teller. What a waste of everyone’s precious time! CUSTOMER NO SERVICE!
