I messaged Linn Area Credit Union after about a year of hearing “no”s from every other bank. Jus to open a checking account ! No With direct deposit ! No. With a $1000 minimum balance. No! But I figured I would reach out to Linn Area - I applied and then in the memo kinda briefed my situation. First thing this morning get a kind and informative response from Krystal telling me the PRIMARY reasons I’ve been getting declined for these accounts all along. She gave me the information I needed for my next steps and invited me back once I get things adjusted. If someone would have been as thorough and even caring like her - I could have solved this problems years ago. So, Thank you Krystal you have no idea how you have helped me today & everyday as I’m continuing to rebuild my life. Everyone go see her if you need an account!! She will help you like she did me !!! Thanks Krystal and Linn Area Credit Union!!!

I can tell by all the negative reviews I made a poor choice in ging to them in the first place. Found out how sketchy they are when a made a payment on a loan. The teller took my money. Then she tells me that one of the bills looked suspect. They kept it giving me no recourse and no documentation. After hearing nothing for a month, I called them and they still are clueless. They did agree to send me some documentation on what happened. They are unprofessional. After I pay them what they are owed, I will no longer be doing business with them. This took place at marion branch.

I have been with Linn area for 28 years , would never consider going anywhere else . Loan officers are outstanding .
In that whole time I may have had one experience that was difficult.

I have had an auto loan for my RV through Linn Area for approximately 5 years. I shutter to think about my checking account, IF I actually were to open one with Linn Area. REWIND! They were mediocre at the onset of our loan. But then, for NO reason, they tried to slam us with their own insurance about 4 years ago. They sent several letters stating we had NO insurance coverage for our RV. I have always kept up all types of insurance and have a SPOTLESS payment history! So I had my insurance lady send a copy. Weeks later, same thing. Did the same, and my insurance lady showed me the successful transmission receipt for the fax, and a couple weeks later, same thing! I called them, they were rude. I sent the insurance info myself and once again, I got the letter stating they were implementing their own insurance. I and my husband both called them. After a very stern warning from my husband to the woman on the line, they magically found the info! Fast forward 4 years, guess what, same thing! Only this time they got our info quicker. But the main problem was getting new coupons for my payments. I had to request them 4 times. The fourth time, I finally received them. Every time I called, they were rude. Their website is a complete waste. It just blocks access when it feels like it. It won't allow me to add my outside bank info for a payment. This is definitely a second rate bank and is obviously sinking further down. Look at the response to the negative reviews, they are just a reword of the same "We don't really care" aura saturating them.

Mark B was super helpful with our mortgage loan. Answered every question no matter how simple it was. And he even worked with us while both my husband and I were in completely different time zones. Thanks again!

We have been banking with Linn Area for years and this experience right now is a nightmare I can't wait to wake up from. If you plan to travel frequently outside of the US, I recommend not using this Bank. Even if you have WiFi they will not allow you into your online banking. Just imagine being on the other side of the World with 2 kids unable to have online access to your own account for 2 weeks, although you've made them aware of your travel plans prior to traveling.

We've been with LACU for 32 years and they are the absolute best!! As we are in the process of moving out of state, we plan to stay banking with LACU. If you check out what's out there for credit union's like we have done, you'll come to appreciate LACU all the more. You won't find a better place!! : ) Thank you LACU ... we are lifers!

Update. They just turned in a delinquent notice to the credit agency for a partial payment, after they take my cash for the payment, and didn't apply it to my account. They are the most low rent, petty, crooked people I have dealt with in the banking system.
I was told long ago when words and actions don't match up believe the actions.
