I have been a member of this credit union for over 20+ years and truly enjoyed their assistance and professionalism, but recently their employees are showing a very unprofessional and rude attitude. I no longer live in America and can't access my cash directly so I am very dependent on their assistance...which has been lacking. Being a devoted member seems to mean very little to them now. I have finally closed my accounts with this institution and have been with Midland States Bank for 10 months now. My account was really easy to open and I have had zero issues with them so far after 5 years of consistent issues with SIUCU while the Carbondale area. However- my fiancé received a piece of mail from them, and when he looked online, his account is still open! This is twice now that they’ve told him his account was closed and then didn’t do it.
Edit: what a joke reply. If you want to make things right YOU contact ME. Just deleted all your spam from my email even though my account had been closed over two years.

I don't have much issue with SIU Credit Union until you changed the app. Now all my Bill Pay is gone just suddenly and it seems to have constant problems. Not easy to navigate! Then on the other hand I got a Notary yesterday and it went smooth. Super frustrated! I will update this to say it's fixed and I got a personal email about it. I really appreciated that! Things happen, it's how you deal with things.

If you need somewhere easy to make payments on the phone THIS is NOT the place. During this pandemic over the phone payments are wonderful but unfortunately this place fails in that aspect. They were rude to me when I asked for more information on how to make payments over the phone. It could be just this location that has awful customer service. The person at the window got snippy with me for using my debit card saying they prefer cash. I am patient but this experience has been stressful. I just want to make my payments with no stress. I suggest a different location or loan office if you enjoy easy payment methods.

Able to take out a fairly large loan, yet can't deposit a check without a 30 day hold and the tellers asking for verification of the company's funds... I get its a policy, but an ignorant one at that.. Furthermore, having held the loan for over a month doesn't apply towards the holding period, uhm, what?...
Interest rates are good, loan officers are solid. The banking experience is actually dreadful and turned me off of banking here entirely despite having a loan through them.

I have been a SIU Credit Union member for over 20 years. In my opinion their service has gone down hill over the years. It use to be what its branding statement says, "For People, Not For Profit", but now I feel it is no different from any other big commercial bank -except with poorer service. As soon as I pay off my credit card I have with the credit union, I am going to close my accounts!!!
