I switched to Mainstreet years ago. I was with a mega bank before and with them you are just a number. At Mainstreet you are family. I love Mainstreet

Went to open a savings account for daughter. As I was sitting waiting for the process, I get an alert that an inquiry was made on my credit from Mainstreet. I asked why they needed to check my credit with just opening a savings account and not getting a line of credit. Their answer wasn’t clear. The next day a spokeswoman from Central Office called me, as I expressed my frustration to the Leavenworth branch. In the initial call she explained to me it was policy to run credit checks on new accounts. That is where I became more frustrated. I have been with Mainstreet for well over 15 years and never had an issue with them until recently. I explained I felt as a longtime customer, inquiring about my credit worthiness for a savings account made me feel like they didn’t trust me. The answer I received to that explanation was, “it is to help protect you from fraud.” Complete bull in my opinion. I was then referred to it is their banks policy that they run everyone’s credit on new accounts. Again, I felt as if that was hogwash. I asked what they could do to keep me as a customer after I felt betrayed. They didn’t offer any solutions, rather they hid behind “policy.” Next day I asked them with respect to write the credit bureau to have them remove the inquiry. They told me they wouldn’t do it. Needless to say, I feel after being a long time customer in good standing they don’t treat me as a person anymore, rather see me as an account. Consumer beware if you are opening a savings or checking they WILL run you credit. A bank or credit union is NOT required to run your credit for those accounts. There ARE other ways for them to verify your identity, employment, address, and to see if you are a good banker. Unfortunately, the lack of trust I feel from them and the unwillingness that was displayed to me for not trying to resolve this matter, has pushed me to close all my accounts with them and move to a different bank. Such a shame our long time relationship with this credit union had to come to such an abrupt end. I share my experience with you in order for the consumer to be informed and make an informed choice in choosing a financial institution.

Ms.Day was very nice and friendly. She answered all my questions, gave me what I wanted and needed. The teller also helped me, she was friendly, smiled and let me know I didn't have to break up my transactions. My friend was right sending me here.

I walked in not knowing what to expect but I know I needed to set up an account. I was greeted by one of the gentlemen that worked there and directed me to the bank manager. The bank manager was very knowledgeable and showed amazing customer service. I was able to set up both a checking and savings account in a very short amount of time. I am glad I walked into Mainstreet Credit Union for my backing needs.

The counter person was so helpful. Needed a check to send in a payment. He explained to me the difference between a money order and a cashiers check. Was so polite.
