I will not usually leave a negative review, just simply take my business elsewhere. But I feel that i should warn people. I went to MFCU in 2018 because their interest rates were lowest for a car loan. My wife and I started a joint checking account and moved our banking there. I also got an MFCU credit card to add to my credit portfolio. Again, lowest interest rate. I had many frustrations using their mobile app for depositing my reimbursement checks. They would not recognize my "For MFCU Mobile Deposit Only". I have super neat handwriting and there was no way to override it, even though they told me that someone hand checks all those mobile deposits anyways. So then, i had to physically take the checks to the branch and they would hold them for 2 weeks because of some uncertainty that they didn't already cash them on the mobile app, which should have been instantly verifiable, but... what do i know? For months, i could not see any detail on my credit card transactions with the MFCU credit card. I called them to ask them for the details, they asked me, well which transaction are you concerned about? Umm, all of them. You can only see dollar amounts. They said it would be fixed within a week and it never was for at least 2 months. I just stopped using that card and went back to my other ones. Finally, I just switched banks. They would not let my wife close our joint checking account, said it had to be me. So, i tried to do it and they said if any future charges came through, that they would re-open my account, charge me NSF charges, then also deny the transaction and then charge me fees for being overdrawn. Overdraft protection goes away once you close the account. They also told me they have no control over what happens to my account if someone were to charge it. They have no way to stop anyone from charging to my account. Then the lady on bluegrass road proceeded to repeatedly show me their fees and tell me that i agreed to them when i opened the account. I kept my cool though and continued to ask questions as politely as i could. It was a very uncomfortable situation as they were not wanting to help me in any way and i felt like i was going to be asked to leave or have the police show up for trying to close my account. I decided to leave funds in the account until i was sure no more transactions would come through. Then covid happened 2 or 3 weeks later and i was not allowed in the branch. Finally, a year later i was able to close the accounts through the drive through. Haven't logged into the account since about March of 2021. Suddenly 2 weeks ago, in Oct of 2022, i am getting emails saying that my account is locked from repeated unsuccessful logins. Which means there must have been a breach of information that was not disclosed. I just emailed them to please just delete my login or something. I am afraid of what may happen with their complete lack of controls and/or capabilities.

I won’t say the name on here, but twice we have had issues with our online account and had to talk to someone. She was very snotty. Both times. What is typically a stressful time when you are dealing with theft she adds to it talking down to you. Maybe it’s not her intention but if twice I have had the same issue.
I planned 1 star but honestly I won’t let this 1 person hinder the rating too much

Do not call the bluegrass location and speak to Mandy. Most rude and impolite person, a "I'm better than you attitude", very short and snipity and snooty. First time dealing with her. This business will lose a lot of customers dealing with that one...

After years of putting up with the BS from banks like Commercial and Firstbank (now Mercantile...I think?), I joined MFCU in late 2018. I have never regretted it once. I got a great rate on a car loan, and recently got a small personal loan for a vacation. Quick, easy, and even pleasant experiences, both times. The staff is always friendly and helpful. On a couple occasions I've walked in or driven through in a bad mood, but I always feel better once I leave. While the banks seemed averse to doing anything for me, these folks frequently offer to do more than I ask for. My only gripe is that you're often on hold for a while when you call, but personally I don't call them enough for that to be an issue for me.

So, I'm not shy when it comes to providing negative feedback online, and I'm really confused about the rating on here? I've been with this office twice, once as a teen with a savings account, and now as an adult with a joint account I share with my fiance. I've never once had any unforgivable issues with them, in getting my paperwork, any account updates, expensive loan approvals, so on. I've only had one rude person when I was a teenager, and I think they Might have one rude receptionist now, but honestly, take that with a grain of salt because I nor my fiance ever really have to deal with them. There are some system bugs, but every company suffers those, and if it's ever cost us money then we've always been reimbursed. Every bank you deal with will have difficulties in staffing and programming/wiring, and every loan approval needs red tape. We're poor too, we live in government housing, and we'll never be off medicaid - I know how it is and they know how it is for us, too. They just can't give away that money. The issues we've had are typically minor, and we've only had two major problems but they get resolved (at maximum) within a few weeks. At minimum, within the hour. The staff when they talk to us are always matter-of-fact and honest, and they know their policies and abilities as tellers very well! They're kind and share insider detail on their business model with us unprompted, which is always helpful. As young adults who aren't super familiar with the industry, they're well- informed and quite generous! We know enough to know when we're being taken advantage of, or being led on, and we've never really felt that way here. I think if you ever have anyone being rude to you, it may be because they deal with crowds of people who's money is on the line, and who are (VERY understandably) so concerned with being taken advantage of that it turns into aggression. Even if you're an optimist like me, dealing with wave after wave of angry, confused, frustrated, and scared people really takes a toll on you. They're people, too. I like that they're not afraid of being human, at least around us, cuz last time I went in they were laughing and playing between tasks - not in the lazy way, in the way that made for a nice atmosphere. It felt real, not robotic. If you prefer your bank not look or sound human, then don't go through a credit union. My silly and petty salt aside, I don't blame the other negative ratings. People who are in desperate need will say and do anything to vent their frustrations, and who knows, maybe they did have a bad time. I won't discredit them! I just don't see what they see. I'd give this place a chance if you're living in the area for a while.

Avoid!!! Especially with a business account. They're a joke and deserve every negative review they get. Can't cash checks now because of a new "federal regulation" which I've done the last 5 years. Had no problem cashing the SAME check at my other 2 banks which I just became a member of this year. Done with this joke of an institution, if you can even call it that. More like a circus where anything goes if the branch manager gives the wave of approval.
