Decent bank if prefer old-school, face-to-face service. However online banking is outdated and difficult to work. Constantly needs new passwords and interface is not user-friendly. Previously had been charged twice for overdraft without notification after the first overdraft. Even though had plenty of money in other account. Would not offer any money back. For their trouble the savings account doesn't yield much. Would look elsewhere for basic checking/savings needs.

I had to grab a loan and the person who helped me was so fast getting everything set up. She knew I was excited and she did everything she could to move along the process. I can't say enough about the attitude of those who work at the 41st St location.
Perhaps the fastest and best experience I've had at a bank!

Looking for a possibly new credit union. IMO they lost a lot of knowledgeable talent who left to work at Mayo Clinic, when the Clinic dropped the CU.
Recently there have been a handful of mistakes on their part and its the online computer side of it and personel as well. Not up to their game anymore

I purchased an item from a company based in Canada with my MEFCU Visa Credit Card, and was charged a 1% "FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEE." It must have been noted in the "fine print" that nobody reads, but I did not authorize this. I called Visa to inquire about this fee, and spoke to K.C., who told me that they are allowed to waive one transaction fee per year. He spoke with his supervisor, who told him that the waiver had to come from my Credit Union, but they were closed on Saturday.
I called the MEFCU on Monday and spoke to the Bruce, the Visa Manager. When I spoke to him, he told me that he could not waive the fee, and referred me back to Visa. After at least 3 back and forth phone calls to Visa and the MEFCU (Bruce), I got nowhere. I called the MEFCU back, and spoke with Stephanie, who told me that Bruce was on another call and he would call me back that day, which he never did. I had to call him back the next morning, where he told me that he would waive the call, but the day before he told me that he couldn’t do this. I recorded all these conversations, so he can not deny any of this. I know that they recorded the calls as well.
My advice is to ask about these “FOREIGN TRANSACTION FEES” before purchasing anything outside of the United States with their credit card. I had to learn the hard way. The bottom line, though, is that Bruce (who is employed by the MEFCU) was not honest with me the first time spoke to him, thus my 1-star rating.
