The worst banking experience I've ever had. I went through a natural disaster, the worst in the states history, and while my other student loan lender was completely understanding and deferred my payments, BND only did so for a short time. Even worse, Joe (I believe his name was) called me and shamed me, even threatened to place me in default even though I was making every agreed upon interest payment on time. His behavior was horrific and unacceptable. Another example was during the pandemic BND required we continue making full payments even though the federal loans, as everyone knows, had been placed on hold to relieve pressure on borrowers dealing with the fallout of lockdowns. Worst banking experience in my life.

Get your student loan somewhere else if you are smart. They do not care about you and have bad service. They will not do anything to help you in a time of need and come up with excuses on why they can't help even during Covid. Go with someone else as I'm not the only one I know that has loans through BND and wish they hadn't.

College students, please consider other banks for student loans! BND has TERRIBLE customer service. I set up an appointment with a student loan specialist to get a deferment on loan payments while I was at basic training and technical training since I would have been out of school for a year. They told me to give them my basic training address (which I didn’t have at that time) and they would just send me the statements while I’m there 🤡. Set up automatic payments and went back to school as soon as I could. I called to have automatic payments stopped, and they told me just to do it myself online. Since they used my 6 month grace period while I was at basic training, I could no longer use it when I finished school. So payments continued to accrue even though I had just finished school. Little bit of understanding and explanation goes a long way.
