The supervisor waited until after I had signed a check to tell me that she couldn't cash it because it was more than a month old. But because she waited until after I signed it now I can't get it cashed anywhere because I signed it beforehand. Now I'm stuck with a check that I can't cash and I can't make my rent on time because of it. You would think a supervised would be competent enough to check something like that before having the person sign it.

I went in there this morning because my money was going to the wrong card. She said they was suppose to switch the old card to the new 1 I got. That didn't happen at all. She took good care of me even though she was on the phone for 15 minutes to try to figure out what was going on.
With all that being said and done she went above and beyond to make sure my direct deposit will go where it should . Whoever she was talking to also said she'll make sure everything will be ok
If I had to give stars they both will get a 10+

I had to visit checksmart on Parsons do to insightcards being extremely rude because they didn't issue me a new card after the expiration of my card?, on an account I had with them for 7 years. I was frustrated when I got to checksmart at 1255 parsons ave is where I was helped by FRANCESCA R. She made sure everything was taking care of. She was so patient empathetic and concerned for the way I felt!! Thank you so much! You made my day so much better!!! Checksmart, FRANCESCA R. Was a great choice!!! Thank you so much!!

BEWARE OF IVY FINANCIAL!!
DON'T TRUST SMARTCHECK OR IVY.
I have used CheckSmart for emergencies over the past 6 years. Once, I paid back the loan so fast that I wasn't charged any interest (due to the 3-day rescission law). I always paid my loans back on time. There is a CheckSmart record of this. I haven't been there for a couple of years.
CheckSmart had a good way of dealing with its customers prior to recent changes in check-cashing/advance-loaning state regulatory law. Even though their rates were exorbitant, they made it affordable, without to much penalty. So, you were going to pay a $55 fee if you did not return the money in a month. That was only required once by me.
They now offer lines of credit through Ivy Financial instead of loans.
DO NOT BORROW FROM IVY FINANCIAL AND DO NOT TRUST WHAT THE SMARTCHECK TELLERS TELL YOU ABOUT HOW YOU MUST PAY BACK YOUR MONEY.
I was told that I was given a $200 line of credit for one year. The young woman teller told me that it was best to pay off the interest each month - which she said would "be around $8.00" - and pay the entire balance due at the end of the year, otherwise you risk incurring a $175 fee for early closure. This was perfect for my present situation and I planned to pay interest only for the next couple of months.
Instead, when I went in to pay the first interest payment (before it was due), I discovered that it was pointless to pay the interest only. I am now told that borrowers have to pay off the entire loan amount no later than 1 month after they have borrowed the money. They said it was pointless for them to accept my "interest" payment, since Ivy was going to go into my account and take out the complete sum on the first payment due date.
The teller disagreed that she had misinformed me.
CheckSmart and their staff have left me in a very dire position. Very dire. They have ruined my financial survivability and caused me to owe $375 plus interest ($200 + $175 penalty + interest) when my situation is very fragile, at this particular moment, financially. I would have not taken out a loan had I known the full return was required in only one month, upon pain of this heavy, immediate penalty.
I have no recourse.
Be careful and don't let this happen to you.

I was really going through a struggle, with car being stolen and having a baby on the way very soon. I called check smart and they got me right in. I spoke with Lilly and she was very patient and polite. She gave me a lot of information for my future with doing business with check smart!

Had a money order that I couldn’t cash anywhere. Going to check smart was literally my last hope. I wanna thank Hillary for helping me get my money order refunded back to me and she was quick and made the process easy and was nice. I really do appreciate her.
