Affordable housing. Good location in a prime spot downtown. Management always responded in a timely manner. Any maintenance requests were addressed within the week. The apartment I lived in was clean. Neighbors respected the quiet hours during the weekdays.
My only complaint is that the wifi was spotty, due to it being free and all the tenants running off of it. Other than that I have nothing bad to say. Cashton and Sara were helpful throughout my two years of staying there. I highly recommend renting through them.

Just finished a lease at their Kenilworth building. Management always did what I asked of them.. Apartment was very affordable. I broke a 6' x 4' mirror and still got my full deposit back which is very much appreciated during this covid situation. I will not hesitate to rent from them again.

I have little to complain about in terms of my actual housing. It was reasonably priced for downtown living and worked well for the two years of my occupancy. There are certainly worse places to rent.
MDC loses points in their customer service, which more often than not, I found terse and unprofessional. On the first day, my sink was clogged and the garbage disposal was not functioning, which caused water and food to backup. I sent multiple maintenance requests, emails and even left a physical note. I called every phone line in the building. I could never find anyone. In fact, the phone lines were down for weeks despite the staff's assurance that they were working.
When the matter was handled weeks later, I found sawdust strewn on the countertops and even inside the toaster – something of a fire hazard. When I entered the office (which is often closed at unpredictable times), I was met by a rude and dismissive manager.
This minor and easily resolved issue was handled with shockingly poor judgement, and reflect's on MDC's ability to appropriately handle renter issues.
Most recently, my apartment was unoccupied for the final month of my lease. At which time MDC installed new carpet. This resulted in a substantial charge on my utilities, accruing a 15-day electricity bill higher than I had ever received in two years – likely from turning on the air conditioner and leaving it running.
My concern was met with another terse response from the property manager.
I recommend the housing. I don't recommend the company.

I have lived with MDC for 5 years now.
Management has always been easy going, and acts very promptly to any concerns. I have lived in 3 different apartments with MDC, all of which were up-kept and maintained nicely.
Dont be afraid of this income restricted company, it allows for unbeatable rates, they are the best value in the city.
Undoubtably a great company who take pride in their buildings and customers. I would recommend them to anybody.

The best management company I lived/worked with:
Customer service/Mx service: on point and were able to help with any questions or concerns I had
Quality/Pricing: Money well spent for a quality place downtown with lots of history and character
Not a single complaint from me. Would recommend to young professionals looking for a great place to call home that's close to everything Madison has to offer.
